Can't install vmtools

I have the following problem , I cant install the vmtools , the operative system say "mount special device /dev/sr1 does not exist" . How to fix it ?

Hi, please check if the virtual machine has a cd/dvd drive on his settings. After that, when you start install vm tools, please see on /dev which sr devices are available. On some system, the cd/dvd drive is named differently (/dev/sr0 for example). Also please filter out on dmesg on events regarding /dev/sr devices to check for mounting errors.

You may want to check where your vmtools resides.
It may be located in a dvd drive which does not exist.
try mounting your vmtools into different drive if it is in ISO format
