Good morning. is there any way I can factory reset without accessing the sangfor web UI.

Ren Lv1Posted 05 Aug 2022 09:03

Good morning, I have been testing a Sangfor M1200FI model. I have been trying to find a way to factory reset without accessing the web UI. I am willing to test out using a console cable. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Steps :

Reset Password with USB drive.

1. Create an empty text file named reset-password.txt in the root directory of U Disk ( Directly in the USB)
2. Insert the USB drive to either USB ports of NGAF at front side where are eth ports and then restart your NGAF.
3. When the NGAF can normally log on to the Web User Interface, pull out the USB Drive.
4. See the results of the USB drive file reset-password.txt, If the recovery is successful, record the restored password in the file. (logs in file created) , otherwise the log is recorded the recovery failure information as unsuccessful.
Is this answer helpful?

3 Steps

2. Insert the flash drive into USB port of the device and wait for 10-12 minutes for able the device to reset the password.
3. After 3 minutes remove the flash drive and check if the reset-password.txt file was reset.

This is the best option for factory reset the device but make sure to make a backup of the configuration before doing it.

1. Create an empty txt file named reset-password.txt or Copy the reset-password.txt file to the root directory of U Disk;
2. Insert the U disk, restart the device;
3. When the device can normally log on the WebUI, pull out the U disk;
4. See the results of the U disk file reset-password.log,If the recovery is successful, record the restored console password in this file, otherwise the log is recorded the recovery failure information.

Password reset via USB drive.

1. In the root directory of U Disk, create a blank text file called reset-password.txt ( Directly in the USB)

2. Restart your NGAF after inserting the USB drive into one of the USB ports located near the eth ports on the front of the device.

3. Take remove the USB Drive when the NGAF can ordinarily log on to the Web User Interface.

4. Check the USB drive file reset-password.txt for results, and if the password recovery was successful, write down the new password in the file. (logs in file produced), otherwise the recovery failure information is noted in the log as failed.

You may try this one since this is from Sangfor official document

Restore password with USB Drive:

2. Insert the U disk, restart the device;
3. When the device can normally log on the WebUI, pull out the U disk;
4. See the results of the U disk file reset-password.log,If the recovery is successful, record the restored console password in this file, otherwise the log is recorded the recovery failure information.

You can try the link below:

or

For the first issue of unable to access WebUI there is an approach below you can try:
1) Kindly download Sangfor Firmware Updater and install in a PC. (PC has to connect directly to the NGAF port)
2) Search for the IP and see whether the IP you inserted is correct. If it is different IP shown compare with the one you insert then it might be user input error.
3) Else, kindly send an email to our technical support for further investigation.

For the second issue of How to reset admin password, you can try with this solution :
Restore password with USB Drive:
1. Create an empty txt file named reset-password.txt or Copy the reset-password.txt file to the root directory of U Disk;
2. Insert the U disk, restart the device;
3. When the device can normally log on the WebUI, pull out the U disk;
4. See the results of the U disk file reset-password.log,If the recovery is successful, record the restored console password in this file, otherwise the log is recorded the recovery failure information.

Notes:
1.This TXT file can be directly on the windows system to establish a empty TXT file, the file name to reset-password.txt;
2.The txt file must be in the root directory of the U disk;
3.U disk can be single or multiple partitions. A single partition of the U disk format must be FAT32; multi partition U disk must put the txt file in the first partition, and the first partition format must be FAT32.

To reset IAG/IAM, connect a crossover ethernet cable to ports eth0 and eth1, then turn off the device, turn it back on, wait 5 minutes, and then unplug the crossover cable. The default credential is admin's username: admin password: admin
