My company is running Sangfor HCI with 3 nodes. After attaching one node more, I would like to change virtural datastore type. Is it possible?

Limited support is provided by Sangfor HCI for transforming current datastores into new formats. The Dev Channel has this feature, albeit it may not yet have official support.
Sangfor support should be consulted before adopting this procedure since it may contain hazards and inconsistent data, so proceed cautiously.

After modifying the Datastore type, perform validation tests to ensure that the changes have been successfully implemented and that the storage infrastructure continues to operate as expected.

Select the new type of virtual Datastore that best suits your needs. Depending on Sangfor HCI's capabilities, this might entail changing cache setups, replication settings, or storage technology selection.

Examine the present virtual Datastore configuration to comprehend the current setup, including the kind of Datastore and its related attributes, before making any modifications.

Hello, I advise you to switch to a different hypervisor for your virtual machines in order to prevent data loss. After that, you may migrate all of your virtual machines back and rebuild the virtualdatastore with stretched mode specified.

Replica settings, network configurations, storage rules, and other configurations within the HCI platform are usually necessary to support the stretched cluster architecture when converting the virtual datastore type from "Ordinary" to "Stretched" in Sangfor HCI.

Yes, it is possible to change the virtual Datastore type in Sangfor HCI after attaching an additional node. Sangfor HCI provides flexibility in managing virtual Datastore types, allowing you to adjust configurations to meet your evolving storage requirements.

Here are the general steps to change the virtual Datastore type in Sangfor HCI after attaching a node:

Assess Current Datastore Configuration: Before making any changes, assess the current virtual Datastore configuration to understand the existing setup, including the type of Datastore and its associated properties.

Backup Data: It's essential to back up any critical data stored in the existing Datastore to prevent data loss during the transition.

Node Attachment: Ensure that the additional node has been successfully attached to the Sangfor HCI cluster and is operational.

Access Management Interface: Access the management interface or console for the Sangfor HCI platform to make configuration changes.

Modify Datastore Configuration: Within the management interface, navigate to the storage or Datastore configuration section. Locate the option to modify the Datastore properties or type.

Select New Datastore Type: Choose the new virtual Datastore type that aligns with your requirements. This could involve selecting a different storage technology, adjusting replication settings, or modifying caching configurations, depending on the capabilities of Sangfor HCI.

Apply Changes: Once the new virtual Datastore type and associated settings have been selected, apply the changes within the management interface.

Validation and Testing: After modifying the Datastore type, perform validation tests to ensure that the changes have been successfully implemented and that the storage infrastructure continues to operate as expected.

Data Migration (if applicable): If the change in Datastore type requires data migration or reconfiguration, plan and execute the migration process while adhering to best practices to maintain data integrity and availability.

It's important to note that the specific steps for changing the virtual Datastore type in Sangfor HCI may vary based on the version of the HCI software and the capabilities of the platform.

its not recommended during a running setup. create a new one with required setting and move your VMs there.

Virtual Machine Migration you can use on various scenario to keep your performance better, also it use for high availability and use to manage resources efficiently.
* If you want to reduce or upgrade the resources this function will be very helpful
* Hardware maintenance
* Software maintanance like appliying patches , change virtual platform
