Sangfor HCI Deployment

Aidil Lv1Posted 27 Aug 2024 16:44

Hello, I'm trying to deploy Sangfor HCI Witness on Hyper-V, but I encountered an error message (No NIC is detected. (errno:80). This is my first time deploying a Sangfor product, so I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hi, on self service are, the ovf file about hci witness are only for Vmware. I suppose that you are installing HCI Witness from iso file, try change the network device to legacy on hyper-v and reinstall hci witness

Hello Dear

It sounds like the error is saying that it can't find a network interface card (NIC) on your Hyper-V setup. Here are some steps you can take to fix this issue:

1. Check Virtual Switch: Make sure you have created a virtual switch in Hyper-V. Go to the Hyper-V Manager, select "Virtual Switch Manager," and create a new external virtual switch if you haven't done so.

2. Assign NIC to VM: When you set up the Sangfor HCI Witness virtual machine, ensure that you have assigned the virtual switch you created to the VM's network adapter. Go to the VM settings and check the network adapter settings.

3. Enable Network Adapter: Make sure the network adapter is enabled in the VM settings. Sometimes it can be disabled by default.

4. Check Hyper-V Settings: Ensure that Hyper-V is properly configured and that your host machine has a physical network adapter that is functioning correctly.

5. Restart the VM: After making changes, restart the Sangfor HCI Witness VM to see if it detects the NIC now.

The error indicates the the NIC was not detected on either the Hyper-V host or in the VM.

I suggest to check the following:

1. Check if the virtual NIC is enabled
- Check vNIC settings: Ensure that the virtual NIC attached to the Hyper-V VM where you're trying to install Sangfor HCI Witness is enabled and configured correctly.
- Verify network adapter drivers: Check if the windows drivers for both Host and VM are installed and updated.
- Restart Hyper-V service: Sometimes, restarting the Hyper-V service can resolve network-related issues.

2. Check the network setting of the VM
- Check the IP address and subnet are correct
- Try to disable the IPv6 if you are not using it to check if it will resolve the issue.

3. check the hardware compatibility
- check if the NIC on you host is compatible with the Sangfor software
- I also suggest to perform firmware updates on your host hardware that might solve the problem.

4. Check you Hyper-V settings
- There might be a setting that conflicts with your setup
- You might also want to try to Disable virtualization-based security (VBS) temporarily and see if it will work.

Hi everyone, thank you for all your replies. Here's what I actually did:

I deployed a new VM in Hyper-V using Generation 1. That resolved the NIC issue.

The error message "No NIC is detected. (errno:80)" suggests that the Sangfor HCI Witness installation is unable to detect any network interface cards (NICs) on the Hyper-V host. Please check it before further proceedings.
