CPU Virtualization Error on Hyper V

Aidil Lv1Posted 29 Aug 2024 21:22

Hello all.

I'm trying to install the HCI Witness on Hyper-V. The version I'm using is 6.8.0_R2 (Stable), but I received an error message stating, 'Exited the installation program. Caused: The CPU does not support virtualization technology.'

However, when I use the latest version, 6.10.0_R1, the installation works without any issues. What could be the actual problem here?

Thanks in advance.

So, for now, I'm using the latest version and a Generation 1 virtual machine on Hyper-V. It works.

Hyper-V host's CPU not supporting Intel VT-x or AMD-V virtualization extensions, which are required for running Hyper-V virtual machines. The error message "The CPU does not support virtualization technology" suggests that the host's CPU does not meet the minimum requirements for running Hyper-V. The newer version of HCI Witness, 6.10.0_R1, might be more flexible with its virtualization requirements or has better detection mechanisms to handle this issue.

Now that port 9339 is open, you need to identify and block the specific application protocols that Clash of Clans use. Since Clash of Clans usually utilizes the UDP protocol on port 9339, you need set a rule to stop UDP traffic on that port.
