IAG (All versions) >Authentication
What is the different between auto authentication and password authentication?

[Answer]
1. Users with auto authentication are required to enter a one-time password, after entering the password, the user isn't required to enter any password and can access the internet.
2. For password authentication, users are required to key in the username and password. If a user wants to access the Internet for a second time, it is required to key in the username and password again. 3. Password authentication can establish user auto authentication.

Different between auto authentication and password authentication is auto authentication was using mac address for auto login while password authentication still required user to key-in the password for authentication

Auto authentication uses methods like biometrics, hardware tokens or single sign-on to automatically verify a user’s identity without requiring manual input offering a more seamless and convenient experience.

Whereas, password authentication relies on the user entering a specific password to prove their identity which is more traditional but can be less secure and more cumbersome due to the need for remembering and typing passwords.

1. Auto authentication is pre-configured device based identification methods that doesn't need user to manually enter username and password
2. Password authentication is authentication that will prompt user to enter their login credentials

Auto Authentication: Users are logged in automatically without entering credentials, often based on IP, MAC, or domain login.
Password Authentication: Users must manually enter a username and password to log in.

Auto Authentication is a system step that automatically authenticates a user based on existing information, after the user has successfully logged in once on a device.
Password Authentication is the traditional step of entering a username and password into a device.

- Auto Authentication: Users don’t need to enter a password; the system automatically recognizes their device or identity using saved information like MAC addresses or certificates.
- Password Authentication: Users must manually enter their username and password to log in.
- Auto Authentication is faster and more convenient but less secure if someone uses a trusted device without permission.
- Password Authentication is more secure but requires extra time and effort from the user.

In Auto-Authentication , We set some IPs and MAC addresses ,  When the user comes with this MAC or IPs the IAG will authenticate it
In Password Authentication , User have to enter the password to authenticate or to use the services

The auto authentication is the authentication dialogue will not appear to require users to type username and password. Therefore, users will not perceive the existence of the IAG device.
