No, you cannot cluster HCI nodes with different firmware versions. All nodes must have the same firmware version for clustering.

No, it is not feasible. When migrating between clusters, it is essential to ensure that the specifications closely match and that both clusters are running the same version.

Yes, it is possible to cluster a HCI (Host Channel Interface) node with different versions of firmware. HCI nodes can be configured to operate in a "backward compatible" mode, which allows them to interoperate with nodes running different firmware versions. This is achieved through the use of a standardized communication protocol and a set of common commands and data structures that are used to communicate between nodes. Some HCI implementations may also support "firmware bridging" or "firmware translation", which enables nodes running different firmware versions to communicate with each other seamlessly.

Hi, unable to form cluster with different version. You'll get a prompt error showing unable to form

A HCI (Host Channel Interface) node with various firmware versions can really be clustered. HCI nodes can be set up to function in a "backward compatible" mode, enabling them to communicate with other nodes that have different firmware versions installed. This is accomplished by using a common set of commands and data structures for inter-node communication along with an established communication protocol. Firmware bridging or translation, which allows nodes with various firmware versions to connect with one other without any issues, may also be supported by certain HCI implementations.

Technically, you can cluster HCI nodes with different firmwares as long as you are within the major versions.
For example, you can cluster nodes with firmware versions 3.
0.0 and 3.1.0, but not nodes with firmware versions 3.0.0 and 4.0.0.

I would also suggest to check the compatibility guidelines for the patch levels for the firmware versions you are using.
