HCI Export Systen Configuration

AimanHakim Lv2Posted 19 Jan 2024 02:29

Hi guys, just wondering how to export the system configuration. So I've 2 cluster DC and DR. Both run 2 different versions, DC uses 6.3.0_R1 while DR uses 6.8.0_R1. However the option to export the configuration is available for 6.3.0 while the 6.8.0 is like missing. Here are the attachments.

Here's the 6.3.0_R1

Here's the 6.8.0_R1

So is there any guide how to export the system configuration for 6.8.0_R1? or maybe I'm searching at the wrong section or etc.

It seems like there might be version-specific differences in the user interface or features between the 6.3.0 and 6.8.0 releases of your HCI system. To export the system configuration in the 6.8.0 version, check the documentation or interface of that specific release for any changes or updates in the process. It's possible that the export option has been relocated, renamed, or modified in the newer version. If you can't find the export option in the expected location, consult the product documentation, release notes, or support resources for guidance on how to export the system configuration in the 6.8.0 release of your HCI system.

The missing option to export the Sangfor HCI system configuration in version 6.8.0 can be frustrating, but there are still ways to export your configuration! Here are a few options you can explore:

1. Sangfor Support:

This is the most recommended approach. Reach out to Sangfor support and report the missing configuration export option in version 6.8.0. They can confirm if it's a known issue and provide potential workarounds or alternative methods for exporting your configuration.
Be prepared to provide details about your environment, including Sangfor HCI versions, cluster configurations, and any error messages you encounter.

2. Command-line Interface (CLI):

Some Sangfor HCI features might be accessible through the CLI even if not available through the web interface. Check the Sangfor HCI documentation or reach out to Sangfor support to see if exporting the configuration is possible through the CLI in version 6.8.0.
This option requires familiarity with the Sangfor HCI CLI commands and might be more technical than using the web interface.

3. Manual configuration export:

This is the most time-consuming and error-prone method, but it might be an option if other solutions are unavailable. You can manually export various configuration elements individually, such as:
Compute: Export VM configurations, storage pools, networks, etc.
Storage: Export disk groups, LUNs, etc.
Network: Export VLANs, IP addresses, routing configurations, etc.
Security: Export firewall rules, user accounts, etc.
Be sure to document your steps carefully and ensure you capture all relevant configuration details.

4. Upgrade to Sangfor HCI 6.3.0_R1 (on DR cluster):

This is the least recommended option due to potential downtime and compatibility concerns. Consider this only if the export functionality is critical and other options are not feasible.
Make sure you have a proper backup of your 6.8.0 configuration before upgrading. Ensure compatibility between 6.3.0_R1 and your existing hardware and software.

Remember, exporting and re-importing system configurations across different Sangfor HCI versions might not be guaranteed to work seamlessly. Always exercise caution and proceed with a proper backup of your existing configurations before attempting any major changes.

Hi, what you need to export and import among clusters?
Anyway, i recommend updating both clusters to the same version before proceeding .

if the clusters are running different version and it is working fine consider yourself lucky.
i would suggest that bring both the nodes at the same level before proceeding any further.

It because of the version of the HCI they have a different feature

To avoid encoutering any issues, you must update and use the same firmware version for both devices
